  • Built the PMO for Shermco. Due to the heterogeneous nature of the project governance with multiple clients the platform was built using existing Office 365 software and procedures; and avoiding specific project management platforms. Process included “plug-ins” for Primavera P6. Implemented with over 30 Project Managers in the company.

BBA Inc. – Meikle Wind Energy Project, Tumbler Ridge, BC, Canada
Energization Director / Completions Manager

  • Supervised the commissioning completions and Energization of Meikle Wind Energy Project. Meikle is a 180 MW, 61 GE turbine wind energy project with a 230 kV substation interconnected to the BC Hydro system. Pattern Energy is the Owner.

  • Managed and submitted the Declaration of Compliance Letters to BC Hydro on behalf of the Owner and Contractor.

  • Supervised all energized environment and LOTO program. Mentored EIT’s.

AMEC Engineering Inc. – Wind Farm Renewable Energy Projects, Oakville, Ontario
Commissioning Manager / Program Manager / Electrical Lead

  • Commissioning and Engineering Manager for wind farm renewable energy projects. Combined generation over 700 MW and substations from 115 kV to 500 kV.

  • Managed a three year $65M-$100M program replacing HV circuit breakers in thirty substations ranging from 69 kV to 500 kV. Direct reports of 15+ Engineers, Project Engineer, PM and eight Construction Managers. Was responsible for client interface, technical completion (sealing most drawings), multiple project budgets, contracts, schedules, and change management.

  • Mentoring has been highly successful resulting in graduate engineers (EIT) at near productive engineer levels in eight months.

Empac Engineering Ltd. – Kamloops, British Columbia, Canada

Sr.Electrical Engineer / Office Manager

  • Managed a team of engineers and designers serving the municipal and heavy industrial market. Prepared proposals, managed life cycle of engineering projects, designed systems and developed capital costs, conducted engineering studies (SKM), and client consulting. Most notable projects are New Gold 138 kV substation, City of Kamloops Sewage Treatment Plant Upgrade, and small projects for mines, municipalities and government.

  • Duties included project and staff management, and renewable energy project development.

Andritz Automation – Prince George, British Columbia, Canada

Sr. Electrical Engineer

  • Designing and capital estimating for IPP run of river and biomass energy projects with a total output of 400 MW and $900 million total CAPEX. Led engineering teams as required for projects.  Conducted Arc Flash studies for Canadian and U.S. clients, Electrical Risk Analysis, system modeling using SKM, and Transmission line and Substation preliminary planning.  Developed use of IEC 61850 (substation automation) as a core competency within the organization and mentoring EIT’s towards their professional license.

Independent Consultant, South Florida, USA

Telecommunications and Network Consultant

  • Telecommunication and Enterprise Network consultant. Upon dissolution of the Lucent division, the duration was spent on the concept and design of the infrastructure for the largest telecommunications building complex in North America located in the Miami area. The infrastructure was designed to accommodate the interconnection of 'telehotels' (Data Centers), carriers and Interexchange service providers (IXC's). Some of the companies on site are Exodus, BellSouth.net and Telefonica. Designed and installed wireless 802.11 wireless networks for clients in the Miami / Ft. Lauderdale area.

Lucent Technologies – Florida, USA

Network Systems Consultant

  • Working with large enterprise network, service providers and telehotel clients, consulted and implemented computer / voice network infrastructures. These projects required a full range of engineering and consulting skills. Some of the notable projects were:

    • Troubleshooting and making upgrades to the Jacksonville Electric Authority ATM/Ethernet/Voice network with a full range of Cisco switches, routers and network maintenance applications.

    • Consulting on the design team for the ATM infrastructure for the State of New York, and training Intermedia, personnel on the technology and principles.

    • Designing and implementing the high-speed Internet ATM infrastructure for one-half of the schools in Puerto.

Sudbury Hydro – Sudbury, Ontario, Canada

Internetworking Supervisor

  • Led the design and implementation of a leading community based broadband infrastructure using Cisco ATM switches, Ethernet switches and routers on a city-wide fibre optic cable plant. I was responsible for conceptual design, engineering, purchasing, construction management, and business development and pre-sales. This was a fast-track, high profile project that set the groundwork for many other Ontario municipal networks. The project involved interconnection with AT&T Canada for their nationwide ATM network.

  • Electrical engineering and specification writing. RFP response, business development.  Programming and database development for PLC's. Constructing and maintaining the office network.

  • Site supervision and commissioning in N. America and S. America. The company closed at the end of January 1996.

Great Lakes Power (Brascan/Brookfield) – Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada

Electrical Engineer

  • Primary responsibilities were all engineering aspects of the electrical transmission system. Some of the tasks and duties were:

    • Load flow and fault analysis using EDSA software and field verification.

    • Project management and engineering - forecasting and planning.

    • Protection and Control engineering (infinite, directional, impedance [distance], differential, transformer, generator, etc.).

    • Protective Relay inventory and settings records.

    • Other notable accomplishments were:

      • Conceived and developed the first 115 kV XLPE submarine cable installation in North America.

      • Conceived, designed, and supervised the construction and commissioning of the first fully operational utility SONET system (Nortel JungleMux – now GE Energy).
